The 'Sun of Vergina' and the Absurdity of Hyper-Nationalism in Skopije

The enclosed video, recorded today (Tuesday, 17^th of May 2016) in central area of Skopje, provides insight into the absurd method deployed in the central Balkan republic to secure "evidence" of ethnological "continuity with Macedonians of Phillip's and Alexander's era".

Through the ongoing mass urban renewal project of Skopje's central part ("Skopje 2014"), almost universally described by journalists and art critics as "distasteful" and as containing architectural specimens of "kitsch", the government in Skopje tries to create a three-dimensional replica of ancient Macedonian history in 21^st century. However, the instances of usage of Sun of Vergina (Pan-Hellenic symbol and chief dynastic sign of Macedonian royalty in north Hellenic classical era) on the very floor of the city somehow went unnoticed, although their presence is enormous in quantity.

In this particular video, only few such instances are represented, a handful from thousands that "decorate" the streets of FYROM's capital, especially aground public institutions and places usually visited by foreigners.
