During the celebration of the day of foundation of VMRO
(Internal “Macedonian” Revolutionary Organization) in Thessaloniki in 1893,
which is a national holiday in the FYROM, its Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski,
at the end of a long self-serving speech (promotion of his party and its “successes”
in the realm of economy) during a solemn academy, concluded his address to the
nation with an alleged quote by one of the Boatmen of Thessaloniki (“Gemidžii”),
am early 20th century terrorist group.His reference was to the alleged last words of one of the Thessaloniki bombers, Jordan Pop
Jordanov – Orceto, which he promoted as an example of patriotism of “Macedonian”
kind, an act followed by applause by selected guests.
